Tuesday marks our second day
out in town to see some cool stuff. First stop, the Museo Nacional de Arqueologia.
This was a museum that made you feel like you had just traveled back to ancient
Peruvian times. The museum was decked out with cool trinkets, artifacts,
mummies, and materials used in ancient times. One of my favorite artifacts was
La Estela Raimondi. A stone-carved slab discovered by Italian traveler Antonio
Raimondi in 1874. The slab is carved in the image of a deity that was
worshipped at the Chavin de Huantar around 1500 to 500 B.C. It is of a figure
that holds a staff in each hand with snakes wrapped around the bottom. The slab
is supposed to be a representation or metaphor.
Our next stop was magical.
Literally, it’s a magical water park in Lima at Parque de la Reserva. It is
home to the Circuito Magico del Agua – the magic water show opened in 2007. We
would spend the evening walking around, exploring the park, getting wet, and
enjoying the many water fountains throughout the park. It wasn’t until later
that night at about 7 pm that we would witness some of the most beautiful and
most spectacular water shows that I have ever seen.
